Can You Replace Kitchen Cabinet Doors | A century ago, the materials that were used for kitchen countertops were an entire different ball game from what is used today. Through out my remodeling career I have torn out many a classic countertop from homes that were built in earlier 1900’s along with the original nailed down countertop was still being in position. I have seen tops which had several layers of vinyl then someone had installed a laminate, like Formica, together with the layers of vinyl. Each new house owner had added the latest and best product which had been developed for kitchen countertops.
Today it is almost work just to maintain each of the new and or recycled products that are used to produce countertops, especially since the GREEN PRODUCTS movement has really did start to get steam. Not only are companies using recycled glass but you are now using recycled paper and cardboard. Bamboo flooring has been out on the market for quite a while now but do you know that you can purchase bamboo countertops. Plus, one company is even mixing recycled post consumer paper with bamboo fibers to create their counter material. Scrap aluminum shavings is yet another material which is now being blended with a resin to generate, what I think, is probably the prettiest and many novel countertops in many years.
